Giant Antique Golf Ball

Not quite sure what I have here.  This might have slipped into a base in advertising signage, or perhaps it was in use at a putt-putt along Route 66.  Perhaps a tee marker?  I don't play golf and so don't have a good guess.  I can't find anything like it, though, and so if you have an idea let me know.  I think it is cast iron.  I tried to get a pic from each angle all the way around. 14" from tip to tip.  The ball measures about 20" around at the middle.  Pretty cool item.
